It was installed to help prevent heatstroke and ran air conditioning and lighting with electricity generated from wind and solar power to create a cool and comfortable space. “N3 N-CUBE” stores a compact wind turbine, solar panels, and storage batteries in a container, and features high mobility as it can be easily transported by means such as truck. The inside of the container can be customized. In normal times, it can be used as an eco toilet, bus stop, or rest area. During disasters, it can be transported to areas that need electricity and start generating and supplying power immediately. As natural disasters like typhoons, heavy rain, and earthquakes occur frequently, power outages have become a major issue. Many local governments are now adopting this product as it can be used both in normal times and during emergencies. “N3 N-CUBE” used at this event was sold by NTN to a company in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture, Japan. It is equipped with air conditioning, lighting, desks, and chairs. To ensure the safety of event staff during the hot summer, the company offered the unit for the race, and it was used as a rest area at the venue. On the day of the race, the temperature exceeded 30°C (about 86°F). The air conditioning, powered by 100% renewable energy, provided a cool and comfortable space, helping to prevent heatstroke. Due to global warming, heatstroke prevention has become a serious social issue. Last year, Japanese government enforced a revised climate change adaptation act. When special heatstroke alert is issued due to high temperatures, public facilities like community centers and libraries, as well as designated companies&#39; facilities, will be opened as “cooling shelters.” NTN is actively promoting the “N3 N-CUBE” as a cooling shelter that runs on 100% renewable energy and can also serve as a backup power source in the event of disasters in Japan. As awareness of disaster prevention grows in Japan, there is a movement to use roadside stations as disaster response hubs. In April last year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism issued guidelines for using high-value containers at roadside stations to support both local revitalization and disaster response.
